You’ve probably been told you are different, special and unique.
But it doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned meathead, have never stepped foot in a gym, an Olympic hopeful or an aspiring business owner. These things are simple, effective, and easy to apply for anyone.
These 3 rules are simple, effective, and easy to apply but don’t let that fool you into thinking you can leave them out. These can the difference between living a shitty mediocre life or a life that you’ve always wanted.
You MUST follow these rules to set yourself up to win.
In this case winning is adding muscle that has been avoided you for years, losing stubborn fat around your abs that never goes away, getting strong as Hercules, or looking sexy as hell like Zac Efron (wait, what?)
These principles will help you achieve anything.
There is no punchline so don’t wait for it. It’s not coming I promise you. For that reason, I’m not going to package it in a creative marketing strategy and sell it for your kidney and 2 months salary.
This is not a sales gimmick and it’s absurdly easy but so many people can never grasp the concept.
Most people live their lives looking for the next best thing. The special secret that is going to change everything they’ve done in past and sky-rocket their future.
I assure you it doesn’t exist.

What I have done is use all of my experience in the fitness world (which is a ton), and learned from really smart people who have done all of the things I mentioned above and put it together in an easily relatable and actionable blog.
Here’s the thing, when things seem too good to be true usually are. There is a reason that systems and practices stay the same while tactics fall to the side.
I am sure you have this before, you may even have been the one asking the question — I know I did.
“What about best exercise to build _________ (insert whatever body part you think will attract the opposite sex here*)”
There are exercises, training programs, diets, courses and books that will give you better results compared to others, but there are a lot of variables that will determine which is going to be the most successful.
But even through all of the shenanigans you can’t avoid these 3 golden rules (even if you are The Rock.)
Golden Rule #1: Do something you enjoy
“If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” ~ Steve Jobs
- If you like running then run — If you hate running then don’t run.
- If you like cycling then cycling — If you hate cycling then don’t cycle.
- If you like lifting heavy shit then do it — If you don’t then learn to like it
You don’t actually HAVE TO lift heavy shit. You can get great health, fat loss and body-changing benefits from a well-designed program that doesn’t involve max weights.
Do you see the pattern here?
There are far too many options to choose from. Do not do something you hate.
When it comes to life and business there seems to be a misinterpretation of the popular quote “do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.”
Here’s the thing…
I love eating fish tacos, lifting weights, learning, and sex. No one is going to pay me to do those things! In fact, I have to pay for all of them (well almost all of them.)
When it comes to deciding what to do with your life to make money, pick something that you enjoy doing but you don’t necessarily have to LOVE it.
I really enjoy fitness stuff, but there are days where I hate the shit out of it too.
Let’s take another look at the Steve Jobs quote…
“If you do something you actually enjoy and get excited about it is much easier to push yourself”
It is easier to get up at the ass-crack of dawn to do something you kind of like vs. something you despise. Which moves us right into the second golden rule.
Golden Rule #2: Do ‘it’ consistently
“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently” ~ Tony Robbins
Results come from consistently putting in work, effort, time, and even more time. It comes from winning little battles every single day which win the war.
It’s like hitting singles every at bat vs. hitting a home run every 13 at bats.
Who’s going to score more points?
Your diet isn’t ruined by missing one meal.
Sometimes ‘life’ gets in the way and you have a few fish tacos that aren’t on your plan. Or Maybe you overshoot your fats by 20g because you bought regular Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked instead of the Fro-yo.
I don’t have to tell you how much of a rookie mistake that is but it’s not going to be the decided factor of whether you are successful or not.
You won’t lose strength because you took a day off because you weren’t feeling well.
I don’t care what ‘it’ is. It’s easier to do something that you enjoy rather than doing something that you don’t like to do. It’s easier to blow off training and get off track of your diet if you hate doing it.
The best fat loss results come with time. The best strength results come with time. The best muscle gains come with time. Successful and trustworthy businesses, brands and careers take time.

Golden Rule #3: Do ‘it’ better

In sports, the difference between winning or losing can be an inch, a point, a centimeter, a tenth of a second or a poor decision.
In business, a lost opportunity or a sub-par performance can mean millions of dollars lost or destroy lives.
When it comes to working out and dieting, people lose sight of this.
I am not saying having a crappy workout is the equal to losing millions or your house, or not being able to support your kids.
Strive to get better in your workouts and training every single time but understand that a little mishap doesn’t make you a failure.
This doesn’t always mean add more weight or increase the number of repetitions. Maybe it means doing the movement with more control or for a longer period of time.
I know it can be tough but be sure to keep the big picture in sight at all time.

Every time you hit the gym, pick a new diet, make a career change, or accomplish something awesome, make sure it falls into these three golden rules if you want to become unstoppable.
